African Henna Roots

Did you know the earliest record of henna dates back as far back as Ancient Egypt, in Africa, where the Egyptians used henna as body art and to dye hair, fingernails and fabric. Traces of henna have been found on the finger tips of mummies. Henna leaves are green, yet the dye produced can range from an orange shade to a deep red-brown. (By adding jagua to henna paste, a beautiful dark maroon color can be produces). The art of henna is practiced in Africa as well as Asia and the middle east and can be used on both men and women. Different cultures have their own style of creating henna art and apply it during celebrations and special occasions, especially weddings. While henna is used for cosmetics,  it also has natural healing properties, it is not only anti-fungal but has the ability to relieve headaches and detoxify the body and treat skin conditions. Henna art is a beautiful and natural way to adorn and heal your body.
